very slow opening up tiff's across our corporate network

We are looking for a viewer to look at tiffs, currently we are using brava, it opens them up very fast. When i try visere it will eventually will open them up (usally 45 secs), however on more than one occassion it locks up my pc. Are there any configuration changes to be made to increase the speed and reliability of this product?
thanks,
Scott

Scott,
Thank you for your feedback. We will look into the slow network response ASAP and get back to you. Meanwhile, we would like to know the following:
1. Is opening the TIFF image slow even when the image is local?
2. Can we have a sample image that is causing problems? You can attach it to this post or send it to us via email.
3. What version of Visere are you using? Try the latest freeware and the alpha 4.0.

Scott,
We have found the bug with this TIF files!
It has to do with how we are currently handling the internal image display. The library we are currently using for handling images will take every image and convert it to a four channel image, EVEN if the image is a single channel. This causes extra delay in loading larger TIF images and sometimes it can also cause a crash. We have been able to pinpoint this problem and are currently converting part of our internal image handling process to use our own Algorithms library. This will give us much more flexibility, which will result in FASTER load times and no crashes. Expect this to be fixed in Alpha 4.0 auto build from Monday the 27th of August, 2007.

Scott,
It is taking us a bit longer to resolve this bug. We will post you a message once this bug is resolved. I expect a week or so now.

Scott,
Forgot to mention this. The latest alpha auto builds should have resolved the issue of slow opening of large TIFFs, in particular, that of opening large TIFFs with lookup tables (color pallets).
