1  Visere / Visere Support / vsrcmdImageOpen() and vsrcmdImageSave() on: November 19, 2010, 09:35:05 pm
User asked:

I see calls to vsrcmdImageOpen() and vsrcmdImageSave() in the code.
From my assumption and how I am using the functions in my own code, please
let me know if the following statements are true:

- vsrcmdImageSave(&pixelsData16, &imageInformation) - This functions takes
the pixeldata16 that is passed to it as a pointer and saves the data in
pixelsData16 into the library's internal buffer.

- vsrcmdImageOpen(&pixelsData16, &imageInformation) - This function
retrieves the 16 bit data from the internal library buffer and puts it into
pixeldata16.

- vsrcmdImageSave(NULL, NULL) - This releases the internal buffer in the
library that was allocated by a vsrcmdImageSave(&pixelData16,
&imageInformation).

Answer:

Yes to all of them!
2  Visere / Visere Support / AQuaDenoise Filter Parameters on: November 19, 2010, 09:36:04 am
Question from user:

Can you explain what each of the values in Aqua noise filter mean:

1. AQua denoise has Sigma and Vector.  Can you explain these?
2. UnSharp Masking - This one I know
3. Xray Denoise - I have been having trouble with this one.  Min/Max and
Average always make the image look like bunch of blocks no matter what value
I use.  So may be you can explain this to me and give me some example values
to use.

Answer:

Here are some default values.  I will try to put together a document and post it as part of our DMA Algorithms manual.

AQua Denoise: Sigma = 5 and WindowSize = 3
In this case, sigma represents the noise level and WindowSize represents the area used for denoising purposes.  The higher the window size, the slower the denoising algorithm.  For sigma, the higher the value, the more noise is assumed in the image and the more aggressive the denoising algorithm is.  Sigma is the standard deviation of the White Gaussian noise that's assumed in the image.

UnSharpMasking: R = 50 and Gain = 0.8
R is the size of the blurring window.  The gain is how much power we use to boost the high frequency energies (i.e. edges) in the image.  The higher the values, the more blurring.

Denoise XRay: noise level = 0.039, MinMaxR = 1, and AverageR = 5
This filter denoises salt and pepper like images.  If there are black dots in images, they are removed, without causing the edge artifacts that a median filter would cause.

Examples of XRay Denoise and Unsharp Masking are available here:

3  Visere / Visere Support / Visere 6 SDK and Pop Up Previews on: November 19, 2010, 09:20:19 am
Question from user:

The interface always pops up a preview with options and numbers that I
can adjust.  I assume you can just call the functions without a preview
window and pass numbers to it without the need to pop up anything, correct?
We want to just call the functions and apply what we want to the image
without anything popping up.

Answer:

In the demo version, the user interface will always pop up.  In the release, licensed version, the pop-up will disappear and you can set the parameters from inside your own functions.
4  Visere / Visere Support / Visere 6 SDK and Phosothop Requirements on: November 19, 2010, 09:18:20 am
Question from User:

When I use the SDK, there are calls to Photoshop filters.  I assume there is no need to have the filters or actual Photoshop program installed, correct?  I happen to have Photoshop installed on this computer so I just want to make sure it is not necessary.

Answer:

Nope, you don't need Photoshop installed in order to run DMMD's Photoshop hose.  Visere 6 provides our own Photoshop Host.  This means you can run ANY Photoshop filter with just the use of Visere 6.  You don't need to install Photoshop and through DMMD's vsrcmdSDK SDK you can access ANY other Photoshop filter from directly inside your application.

Darian
5  Visere / Visere Support / Visere 6 SDK Usage on: November 19, 2010, 09:12:23 am
Question from user:

I noticed the SDK you sent to me only seem to have one function in it.  Are there other functions, I assume there are?  The only function I see is "Noise", and then "Aqua Denoise (by DMMD.net)."

Answer:

vsrcmdSDK, which can be downloaded from our site http://dmmd.net/main_wp/visere-6-5/ provides access to Visere's Photoshop Host.  This means that through our SDK, you will be able to access all of the Photoshop filters available in your local directory.  Since you only have AQuaDenoise, you will only see the AQua denoise filter.  If you copy other Photoshop filters to this directory, you will get access to more of them.

6  Visere / Visere Support / Re: Batch file - from .CR2 to .DCM on: July 10, 2009, 07:16:43 am
Hi,

Visere 4.1 only allows reading DICOM files.  However, our new Visere 5.0 will support both read and writes, together with command line parameters.  In 5.0 you will be able to run the conversion from the command line, or from within the viewer.  We should have the support in 5.0 available sometimes within the next two weeks.  If you send us an email (support at dmmd dot net) we will send you an alpha version of 5.0 when the support for DICOM becomes available.

Darian
7  Visere / Visere Support / Re: Latest Visere Slow on start up on: August 20, 2008, 08:16:00 am
Dear Elvinantonio,

Thank you for your kind words about Visere!  We are aware of a slow start issue when the Directories toolbar is present.  We are currently trying to figure out what exactly is causing this issue as it seems to be related with the fact that the directories toolbar tries to access remote directories as part of its start up.  Visere can take a little longer to start when the Directories toolbar is on.  Can you please disable the directories toolbar and see if Visere starts up faster without it?

Your feedback is much appreciated.  If the issue is the directories toolbar, then we will let you know as soon as we find a fix for it.  If the directories toolbar is not the issue, then can you try to disable toolbar by toolbar and see if at any point Visere starts up faster?

Best,
Darian
8  Visere / Visere Support / Re: Fonts used for the menu's of version 4 on: June 03, 2008, 11:32:55 am
Hello Lutz,

OK, we are now aware of the issue you are having.  This seems to be related to a change in API in Windows Vista.  You said you are using XP, so most likely you are using a Vista like theme/skin.  To temporarily allow you to use Visere on Vista and other Vista like schemes we added an option for disabling our skin for menus.  Here is what you need to do:

1. Download the latest 4.1 version of Visere from: http://pictomic.com/test_visere/4.1/, version 4.1.7575 or higher.  Version 4.2 will actually be discontinued as we decided to jump to version 5.0 -- which will be a complete redesign.

2. Optionally, download the dcraw plugin (for reading RAW files) from http://pictomic.com/test_visere/4.1/plugins.

3. After you install the two MSIs, go to DMMD/Visere/Skin Editor/Skin Editor.  In the menu, go ahead and check the box: "Use Default System Menu".  That should hopefully resolve the fonts issue you are having with the Visere menu.

Darian
9  Visere / Visere Support / Re: Fonts used for the menu's of version 4 on: May 23, 2008, 06:29:11 am
Hello Lutz,

The problem you are having seems really strange!  Can you please tell us the exact version by going into Help/About and then also providing us with a screenshot of the problem?  You can capture a screenshot with Visere's Screen Shot utility and save the image as a JPEG.

Also, are you using the regular XP desktop?  Or are you using some third party shell?  Which one?

Thank you,
Darian
10  Visere / Visere Support / Can't Open JPEG image. on: May 09, 2008, 06:09:09 am
Jane,

What version of Visere are you using?  If it is the latest Beta and you are still having problems, can you please upload the sample JPEG image?  We will resolve the issue ASAP and let you know when the update is available.

Best,
Darian
