  Digital color images from single chip digital cameras are obtained by interpolating a color filter array (CFA). In the figure below light goes through the lens and hits the image sensor
plane containing the CFA.

Results
Here is a comparison of DMMD Demosaicing against other methods. (One of DMMD's demosaicing algorithms is also available in Pictura.) The original image is a lighthouse Kodak Photo CD colored image of dimensions 384 by 256. The image was sampled using the Bayer Array and then reconstructed using DMMD's demosaic and two other methods:
